IT HUBS
Getting Laptops to the People Who Need Them
A network of local charities and community groups, matched with refurbished laptops through one simple portal.
Matching a laptop to the right person used to take us hours. IT Hubs puts that choice with partners who know their residents. Of the many organisations we’ve worked with, we started with six, so we could get fairness, privacy and ease of use, right before growing.
Our pilot, supported by the council currently has 6 active partners ( with 6 more joining very soon). 4 donors and 1000 laptops.
Our software has already tracked 24 laptops and we are expecting the first 3-month surveys in November 2026.
Over 30 organisations applied to join. We will welcome more in phases from 2027.

Around 1.5 million adults in the UK have no smartphone, tablet or laptop, and 3.7 million households with children fall below the Minimum Digital Living Standard. (Good Things Foundation, 2024)
The laptops exist. What’s missing is a fair, fast way to get them to the right people.
HOW IT WORKS
-
A partner finds someone who needs a laptop. They know their clients and check eligibility.
-
They choose a laptop on our portal, using credits.
-
We deliver to a collection point.
-
The resident collects it, with free repair and digital inclusion workshops to follow.
Every laptop, workshop and training hour is recorded once, so a donor, a partner and Mer-IT never claim the same impact twice. Try our calculator.
